The Journey – I started my career as a computer science engineer working for an IT firm. It was not something that I could see myself doing for a lifetime. After a lot of inner reflection and speaking to people, I enrolled in a PG course in Event management in Mumbai.
I was always intrigued by how these big events came to life – what went into making them so perfect for the audience. I was told that it will be a waste of time yet I was determined to give it a shot. Somewhere I knew that I had a passion for events and that if I worked hard, I would succeed.
I joined a marketing agency to lead operations for their events and within a year I executed about 80 events and was part of many more. My work took me to different cities and countries. I knew I had found my calling. 2020, the lockdown changed it all when the events industry came to a standstill.
Reinventing Myself- I realised that waiting for physical events to open up wasn’t a solution. I dived deep into research and thanks to my computer science degree, I started reading up on tech and streaming.
I started with a home studio, invested my savings in buying gadgets and began freelancing. It was like Lego Building.
I first invested in Studio PC, then slowly a couple of laptops, and then power backup and internet and not to mention the number of software licences and subscriptions. In all of this, I think it was curiosity and to keep myself busy during the pandemic that kept me going.
One thing led to another, one happy client led to another and I reinvented myself to become a virtual showrunner.
The Belief – When a door closes, there are other windows which open up. If one is passionate and adaptive, nothing is impossible. Hard work and perseverance lead to success.
